The 33rd

The 33rd

The 33rd is Drexel’s College of Arts and Sciences anthology of interdisciplinary student and faculty writing. This book features the winners and honorable mentions of the First-Year Writing Contest, the DPG Creative Writing Contest, the DPG Essay Contest, and the Literature Essay Contest. The published pieces include students’ personal and research essays, creative nonfiction, fiction, humor, opinion/editorial, and poetry, along with works by current Drexel University faculty members. In 2019, The 33rd added the Writers Room section, which highlights multi-genre writing from community writers, students, and faculty members. The front and back cover of The 33rd are the winning photographs of the DPG Photography Contest.

The 33rd is published once a year in the fall term. The book has been published every year for the last twelve years and is used in the First-Year Writing curriculum. The student staff involved in the publication of The 33rd assist in managing submissions for the writing contests and faculty writing, promoting and advertising for contests, copy-editing and completing many other organizational, pre-publication tasks, as well as distributing the anthology.
